Mykelti Williamson Potential Emmy Candidate
Television Week picks this year's tv standouts. In the article Mykelti Williamson also shares his thoughts on "The Fugitive." The following is a snippet of the article.

Mykelti Williamson Lead Actor in a Drama Series
By Kathleen O'Steen
Special to TelevisionWeek

When given the script for the pilot of Boomtown, Mykelti Williamson followed his gut instinct-he refused to read it. His experience two years earlier on the short-lived drama, The Fugitive, had made Mr. Williamson gun-shy about committing to another dramatic series on television.

"When we started on The Fugitive, it was an amazing show," Mr. Williamson said. "But then the show started to experience budget cuts; it was scaled way down. I felt we were in trouble and the audience felt the same way. I did not want another experience like that-to start out with a bang and then have the show taper off to being something else."

Columbia Training 'Basic' Thriller on U.S.

By Cathy Dunkley and Charles Lyons

HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - Columbia Pictures has taken domestic distribution rights to the John Travolta/Samuel L. Jackson thriller "Basic. "

John McTiernan, currently in theaters with the "Rollerball" remake, is directing the Phoenix Pictures/Intermedia Films project, which began shooting in November.

Travolta plays a former Army Ranger and discredited DEA agent who is brought in to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a decorated Army Ranger drill instructor (Jackson) and several of his recruits during a military training exercise gone awry. The instructor teams up with a female military police officer (Connie Nielsen) in the investigation. Tim Daly, Harry Connick Jr., Brian Van Holt, Giovanni Ribisi, Taye Diggs, Roselyn Sanchez and Cristian de la Fuente round out the cast.

The picture had been close to a green light at Columbia Pictures 18 months ago, with Lee Tamahori to direct and Catherine Keener and Benicio Del Toro as the leads.

Some of the posters at the Dr-Richard-Kimble.com message board have decided to start "The Fugitive" campaign again. Here are the details, submitted by mhoran21.

Make this known to every Fugitive related site in the world. I must say this will be our final chance to end this series THE RIGHT WAY! I am proposing THE final chance to end this show the way it should have been. If we can gear these letters (NO EMAILS) to Moonves and Kopelson (to death) we can hopefully get a conclusion.

I want this letters to commence writing February 2, 2002 because that is the day the groundhogs at CBS will see the light and read all our letters. In the past, certain campaigns have use "objects" to persuade.

Now and Again (eggs)
Witchblade (Pez)

The Fugitive, our "object" will be pictures of runners. Any type from clip arts, magazines, whatever, BUT this will likely be our final chance.

Convince that Friday was a bad move all long, mention the show's rave reviews and that none of the actors are really doing work, so making a finale is feasible.

Stick to CBS, Kopelson and McNamara. I think if we can get these letters in during the Olympics we might have a shot.

GOOD LUCK AND TELL EVERYONE

Addresses can be found here.

January 19, 2002
Found a Q and A in The Cincinnati Enquirer. It is not a recent write up (06/05/01), but it does reveal that the producers knew about the cancelation before shooting the finale.

Enquirering minds want to know: Will Tim Daly's "The Fugitive" series finale cliffhanger from May 25 ever be resolved?

Probably not. CBS Television President Les Moonves says "The Fugitive" producers were told in early March, before shooting the finale, that the series would not be renewed. Yet producers went ahead with a cliffhanger for the two-hour finale. My guess is that producers hope enough people complain for the network to approve a TV movie wrapping up loose ends, as NBC did for "Homicide: Life on the Streets" two years ago. My guess also is that Mr. Moonves won't cave, and that viewers will never see a resolution.

Thanks for the pic Tracy! :)

Hoped everybody had a good holiday and a happy new year!

"The Fugitive" made it on to The Futon Critics' 50 Best Episodes of 2001. It ranked 19th and this is what they wrote:

19. the fugitive - "thanatos
(originally aired may 25, 2001)

The finale to the Kopelsons' latest remake of "The Fugitive" had the biggest cliffhanger of any series last season - fate has Kimble with the one-armed man finally in reach only to be foiled by a rogue federal agent who not only puts a bullet in fellow pursuer Gerard but fires again at Kimble and the one-armed man. Who gets hit? Who lived? Who died? Sadly, we'll never know.
